Yoga & Pilates Bond

My first yoga class was in 2000, I remember being fascinated with the effects of a simple “Om” and walking out the class thinking this must always be a part of my life. Years later, my first Pilates class was in 2010, I was fascinated by the anatomical precision of a physical exercise to strengthen our body. They both captured my curiosity and love, I had to study and understand their history and technique – and all the whys. So, I trained both as a Pilates instructor and Yoga teacher. Bliss for the body, mind and spirit.

Yoga and Pilates are natural complements to each other – they have a supportive bond. Working of the human anatomy thru Pilates is a grounding miracle, and breath of yoga takes you beyond the physical body into the magic of a wellbeing life – creating an ever evolving, strong journey between mind, body and spirit.

Pilates system was created by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It focuses on posture, works with deeper muscles with precision, strengthen core postural muscles, develop correct body alignment and improves body co-ordination.

Yoga is an ancient philosophy and system of practices designed to unite mind and body creating a sense of complete well-being with increased tone, flexibility, improved breathing and a sense of feeling calm. Yoga is a lifestyle philosophy that goes beyond physical body – it is a journey from the mind to the body to the spirit.

They are both for you to create a healthier and happier lifestyle and share numerous physical benefits, including:
– Ability to stretch, strengthen and tone the entire body
– Improve postural alignment, and lengthen spine
– Improve balance, stability and co-ordination of body
– Create awareness, sense of body and mind correlation
– Improve good breathing
– Promotes stamina
– Stimulate circulation and calm the mind

Extremely grateful to be part of this bond.

“ Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.” Joseph Pilates

“It is through your body that you realize you are a spark of divinity.”
― B.K.S. Iyengar
